What are the main components of a plastic injection mold?

Plastic injection mold components (below are typical examples only)


1. Sprue Bushings: sprue bushings act as the inlet channel that guides molten plastic into the mold cavity. It is manufactured from premium materials including tool steel and carbide steel with excellent heat, pressure and wear resistance.

2. Mold Springs: mold springs deliver the force required for mold opening and parting, and maintain tight clamping during injection molding.

3. Mold Screws: mold screws fasten and connect mold components, the screws need high tensile strength and corrosion resistance.

4. Locating Rings: locating rings accurately position the mold on the injection machine to prevent mold displacement during injection molding.

5. Tie Bars: tie bars are the main structural components of molds, tie bars secure all mold sections together. Tie bars need high strength and corrosion resistance.

6. Wear Plates: wear plates are fitted on high-friction mold areas including cores and cavities to extend overall mold service life.

7. Ejectors: ejectors push finished products out of the mold after injection molding. It is commonly manufactured from high-strength steel or hard alloy steel.

8. Gate: gate serves as the flow channel feeding molten plastic into the cavity. Its dimension and geometry exert a critical impact on molded part quality.

9. Cooling Water Lines: cooling water lines cold the mold during molding to shorten molding cycle times and improve finished part quality.

10. Ejector Sleeves: ejector sleeves precisely control the height and position of molded products during injection.
